Green People Celebrate 20 Years of Organic Beauty

Green People are celebrating 20 years of organic beauty. Twenty years!

It is a brand that I frequently point people looking to use natural and organic skincare in the direction of. There are so many amazing natural beauty brands to choose from, however, there is something ‘safe’ about Green People. As well as online, it is also available in lots of health stores, Ocado and some Waitrose and John Lewis stores, which is great if like my mum, you’re not a fan of shopping online. However, if you do shop online you can often find discount codes or special offers (there’s currently 15% off deodorants and shower gels), which I always take advantage of. There’s something for the whole family, from babies to teens, hair care to lipsticks – at a sensible price point.

My Green People favourites are their Volumising mascara (in fact, I must order another one), the Scent Free haircare (I’m also running out of this) and their Scent Free Sun Care range, in particular the Facial Sun Cream. Oh, I mustn’t forget the limited edition Damask Rose Velvet Matte lipstick too! I need to check how long this will be available as it’s my new favourite (see my full review here).

To mark the special anniversary, Green People have launched a limited addition skincare range: Damask Rose and Orange Blossom. I went along to the birthday celebrations on the beautiful roof top terrace at the Ham Yard Hotel yesterday and where I found out more about the new additions to the Green People collection as well as being able to chat with the faces behind Green People, including founder Charlotte.

I came away with a fab goodie bag (contents in photo above) containing some of the 20th anniversary limited addition skincare, along with some tasty chocolates from Cocoa Loco which one of the dogs did manage to swoop in and eat while I was taking the photo above (he ate the three loose ones, which I know is not ideal, but he is fine).

The range contains a Damask Rose Trio which will come as no surprise to discover that this range is scented with Rose Otto. It takes a staggering 60,000 rose petals to produce one ounce or Rose Otto, a favourite scent of mine. I believe this range is probably more suited to those with dryer or more mature skin.

The collection includes a Damask Rose Cleanser (£15 50ml), a light cleansing lotion enriched with organic Shea butter Jojoba esters (I have found a link explaining what an ‘ester’ is for anyone who is interested here), Aloe Vera and Calendula. I’ll be interested to see how this works for me as I usually prefer a balm or oil to cleanse with, but am always up for having my mind changed!

I have been able to try the Damask Rose Moisturiser (£20 50ml) from this range. Enriched with organic Evening Primrose, Avocado, Marshmallow and Seaweed to help to soothe the skin. The texture is a cross between a cream and a gel and feels light and fresh on the skin where the subtle scent lingers.

I had a lovely hand massage using the Damask Rose Hand Cream (£15 50ml). Now, I’m not going to pretend that I am excited about a hand cream. They’re just not my thing! However, what I did like about this hand cream was it absorbed quickly which leaves you to get on with doing things. As you can imagine, this is also made with some nourishing and hydrating ingredients such as Evening Primrose, Aloe Vera and Shea Butter.

The other collection is from the Orange Blossom range, another favourite scent of mine, using the blossoms from the orange tree. Orange blossom is said to promote a feeling of joy and confidence whilst also helping to alleviate stress and anxiety. This range will typically suit those with more oily or problem skin. The Orange Blossom cleanser (£15) is a cleansing lotion which is gently balancing. I haven’t put this to the test, but it claims to remove impurities, daily grime and even waterproof mascara.

This range has an Orange Blossom exfoliator (£15) instead of a hand cream which I have been able to try. I really like the consistency of this facial exfoliator. The exfoliating particles are evenly distributed and there are lots of them. The exfoliating particles are made with ground bamboo which provides a very effective amount of abraision. Made with Pomegranate, Rosehip and Bentonite clay to help refine, detox and revitalise the skin and scented with zingy orange blossom of course!

There is also an Orange Blossom moisturiser (£20) which is enriched with Green Tea Baicalin and Seaweed and certified organic this states to not only boost hydration but minimise fine lines. A bold claim!
