If I could only pick one (makeup)…..

green beauty, natural makeup

I thought I would update you on my current favourites, but in a slightly different format. Instead of a monthly favourites, I have written an ‘If I Could Only Pick One…‘ post. Disclaimer: What I love today, may not be what I love next week!

This is quite easy for me at the moment as I’ve only been using Jane Iredale’s Glow Time BB Cream (shade BB6) for a couple of weeks now. I only need a tiny amount and like to blend with a damp Real Techniques buffing brush. However, I am itching to try something new and have got my eye on the Kjier Weis foundation.

This is something I’ve found myself using more of recently. I tend to use it to conceal areas of darkness rather than blemishes; in the corners of my eyes, around my nose and chin area. I have been really impressed with Jane Iredale’s Disappear Concealer. Like the Glow Time BB Cream, it’s pretty heavy coverage, but applied sparingly does not look obvious on the skin and stays put.

If I had to pick today, then it would be RMS Beauty’s Lip2Cheek* in shade Modest. I’ve been using this to help create a natural flush to my cheeks. The cream formula adds a dewy glow to the skin.

There’s a couple I can choose from here as I have found myself using more than one recently. If I could only pick one then it would be RMS Beauty’s Un Powder. I bought this for my daughter for Christmas and found it while looking for something in her room recently. She clearly doesn’t like it as much as me as she hasn’t taken it to university with her! I love how fine it is. and undetectable on the skin, yet somehow manages to ‘soften’ the look.

This is easy. I am only using one matte bronzer at the moment, Dr Hauschka’s Bronzing Powder. It is clinging on for dear life. I’ve hit pan and broken the packaging. I did order a sample of PHB Beauty’s Mineral Foundation in a couple of shades darker than my skin tone, and really like using it. However, I’ve lost it!

Eye shadow

This is tricky. Historically, I’ve loved the Dr Hauscha Eye Shadow Palette, but I haven’t used that in some time. In fact, I haven’t worn a lot of eye shadow recently. I have been sent the Avril Nude Palette* to try and have been putting it to the test this week. I am really impressed. It’s such a versatile palette, if pushed, I’d choose this one.

This is the trickiest choice. I have more than one favourite. If I’m going on what I’ve been using the most recently, then it’s the PHB Ethical Beauty Mascara*. It’s not perfect, I find that there is a little too much product on the wand, so care is needed when applying, but it does not budge once on. There’s no smudging or flaking.

Eye Liner

Hands down RMS Beauty Vintage Cake Liner. I love this! I wear it pushed in to my lash line to give the appearance of fuller, thicker lashes. It’s very easy to use with minimal smudging.

Jane Iredale Lip Pencils are my all time favourites. I have many shades, but recently have been using Spice for a nude look.

In terms of a lipstick, can I choose two? One nude and one bright? My nude choice is Avril’s Organic Lipstick in Bois de Rose (I think that’s the shade – I can’t find it on the lipstick). It is the most used lipstick in my collection – and the cheapest!

Antipodes Lipstick in Orient Bay Plum* is my current perfect bright. It looks nothing like the bullet, which is quite a dark brown-y red. The shade is a vibrant pink/plum shade which I like to use dabbed on to my lips. I have been so impressed with the longevity of this lipstick.

I’d love to know if you’ve written an ‘If I could only choose one….’ post.
