Combat dull winter skin: Makeup

makeup, organic makeup, green beauty

The final part of my ‘Combat Dull Winter Skin’ series and the focus is on makeup.

I am using some great products to create a radiant, healthy looking skin. – especially if you have a more mature or drier skin. Some are old favourites and others are fairly new discoveries.

Couleur Caramel Makeup Base – this works as a hydrating base, so great for those with a drier skin. It does such a good job at moisturising that I often skip using a regular moisturiser. It makes creating a healthy glow very easy! This is my second tube after a long break – I had forgotten how good this is. Perfect for winter skin.

Zao Silk Foundation (refill) – I went against my own advice and ordered this without trying a sample first. I ordered it at the same time as an Ere Perez foundation and was initially drawn to that (which is very good), but when I did start using this Zao Silk Foundation, I found it worked really well for a ‘glowy’ look. It is far more moisturising than most of my natural foundation I have. I have shade 723 which works well with my self tanned skin.

Zao Creamy Concealer – This is an old favourite, but, as with the Couleur Caramel Makeup Base, I hadn’t used it for a long time. I love this concealer (which I use in a shade or two lighter than my skin tone (Ivory) as a brightener). I tend to use it on my eye lids, inner corner of my eyes and around my nose. It is so creamy and easy to blend, perhaps not one for covering blemishes though.

RMS Beauty Living Luminizer – if you’re looking for a natural glow to your face, this is for you. I am coming to the end of my pot (as you can see from the photo) and will certainly be replacing it. It is perfect for creating a subtle sheen to your cheekbones (or anywhere else you want to great a glow).

You may find that you are a little too ‘glowy’ when using all of the above(!), if so, then a light dusting of RMS Beauty’s Tinted Un Powder¬†will help to bring the glow down a notch or two. I don’t put this everywhere, but in areas where I don’t want excess shine. It’s so finely milled, that it is undetectable on the skin.

Lily Lolo Natural Lip Gloss – I avoid a matte lip when I want to brighten my face and will often opt for a lip gloss. My current favourite is from Lily Lolo in shade clear. Not very long lasting, but leaves a lovely natural shine to my lips.

In terms of the rest of my makeup, I keep it very simple. I have been skipping eye shadow and just adding a touch of liner in the roots of my lashes along with a coat of mascara. I do like to add a healthy glow to my cheeks and have been using a sample pot of Hynt Beauty Alto Matte Blush in shade Notoriously Nude.

What are your picks for a glowing skin?
