New Products – First Impressions

As the title suggests, this is a post giving my first impressions on some new beauty products. A couple of these I ordered via the LoveLula Accredited Blogger Programme (see my disclaimer here) and one I bought myself.

Kimberly Sayer Ultra Light Organic Facial Moisturiser SPF30 £26.50 (120 ml)

I have been on the lookout for a daily SPF of 30+ for a long time. During the summer months I (nearly) always wear an SPF 30 or above on my face (I like to use Green People’s Scent Free Facial Sun Cream). However, I do admit to not using it during the winter months.

I’d heard a lot of great things about the Kimberly Sayer SPF moisturisers, so chose this Kimberly Sayer Ultra Light Organic Facial Moisturiser SPF 30. It feels and acts like a regular moisturiser, yet still provides protection against UVA and UVB rays by using titanium oxide and zinc oxide. As well as the Ultra Light formula there is also an Anti-Oxidant Daily Moisturising Cream SPF 30 which is a richer cream recommended for those with normal, dry or sensitive skin.

The Ultra Light Moisturiser is non greasy and lightweight and is recommended for those with normal, oily or combination skin. I would usually opt for products aimed at dry skin (my skin is normal/dry), however, I tend to avoid heavy creams (usually those in pots) as it can make my skin breakout, hence my selection process here.

So far, I am really pleased with this every day moisturiser. It does exactly as promised: it absorbs quickly into the skin making it ideal to use before applying makeup. It’s worth noting it has quite a strong citrus scent, which may not be for everyone. There is some concern over the inclusion of lemon oil in sun protection. I have just contacted Kimberly Sayer asking for their thoughts. I will report back!

Ere Perez Australian Blue Cypress Face Nectar £25.00 (30 ml)*

This new addition to the Ere Perez range was drawn to my attention via the LoveLula Beauty Club’s Facebook Page (a great place to go if you’re looking for advice on natural beauty).

I was immediately seduced by the description ‘nourishing botanicals give a dewy glow while deeply revitalising skin‘. How could I refuse that?!

Ere Perez is an Australian natural cosmetic brand. A recent packaging revamp (10/10) and additions to their product range has peaked the interest of many beauty lovers (myself included).

My first impressions of this face oil is it is a fairly lightweight oil that absorbs quickly into the skin. It is one I have been reaching for in the morning as it works well under makeup. I’d say it does leave the skin with a glow that lasts a good few hours. It has quite a distinctive smell – reminds me of summer.

What Ere Perez say “Natural antioxidants, non-oily radical hydration, anti-inflammatory properties & omegas combine to plump your skin and reduce the signs of tiredness and sun damage. Prime skin for makeup with this delicious formula that awakens skin and adds a lifting glow. We lovingly made this nourishing nectar for all complexions.”

Dr Hauschka Tinted Day Cream £29.50 (30 ml)*

I took a risk when I ordered this as I had read mixed reviews. A couple of Dr Hauschka makeup products have made their way on to my favourites list: Eye & Brow Palette (Stone) and the Bronzing Powder (01) so was happy to try something else from their range.

I have used this almost daily since my order arrived a couple of weeks ago (always a good sign). I was nervous when I ordered this without trying a sample first. I was worried about the ‘tint’ being too dark, but it’s not. In fact, it is hardly detectable on my skin. It leaves a sun-kissed, healthy glow. It’s definitely not one for anyone with oily skin, in fact, unless your skin is on the dry side, I would probably give this a miss.

Only a small amount of this rich cream is needed. As I mentioned, I tend to avoid thicker creams and did worry that this may not suit me. After the first couple of uses, I did notice a few little spots appear, but kept on using the cream, hoping my skin would adjust and it has.

I have found myself using this along side Living Nature’s foundation (I have shade Pure Sand). I find this foundation quite drying with a slightly matte finish, which helps to balance the moisture and glow of the day cream.
